I'm in a good yahoo and flickr groups. I only have point and shoot so I can't get all the fancy pictures everyone else gets, but I'm working on learning better composition anyways.
These groups are good for beginners or the more advance as they share tips with each other, critique each other (when asked) and they help to prod each other along with new ideas. There are monthly challenges in the Yahoo group, and the flickr group has daily and weekly challenges. You can participate as little or as much as you would like. I find it fun when I have time!
I also like how there are others with point and shoots, dslr's, even some that still do film, newbies, more advanced, etc. So you get a really well rounded group for advice and help. Some of them even know the software and can help with image editing as well. You might check them out.
