Zoo Together

Friday we headed out to the zoo. The intent was to meet up with other homeschooling families, however we were unable to find anyone in that group. Come to find out they were all running late. So, that left just me and the kids! We had a nice time!!!

Typically when we go to the zoo we are with a bunch of other families or with a guest - which makes for a different zoo experience. While we always have a really nice time, Friday was different - in a great way! Holly really engaged me with the zoo, she asked a lot of questions and was just perfect to be honest. Such a different experience, a lovely experience.

We really took a slow time doing the zoo, enjoyed the play area, caught a tank feeding, had a nice picnic lunch and even watched the show they put on... which she loved. It was a great day, one we'll have to do again soon!

Another Blog

In the next week we will begin a new journey in life, homeschooling. We will be enjoying many hours working our way through some fun kindergarten curriculum, projects of interest, the arts, nature studies and learning lessons. I have chose to record this part of our life separately from our general family times in order to organize our homeschooling records in an exclusive place.

You can find our homeschooling blog, Our Creative Day over here: http://ourcreativeday.blogspot.com/

I hope you'll join us on this new journey!

Tinkerbell Art

Holly adores Tinkerbell... has for a while and still does! It is very sweet. Yesterday afternoon she was dancing around the house in her Tinkerbell costume, playing with her Tinkerbell dolls and we read a Tinkerbell story.

This morning as soon as she woke up she bypassed Mom & Dad and headed right over to her play area with a sheet of paper and crayons in hand. She said she had a picture she really wanted to draw. I asked what it was and she said, "You'll have to wait and see, but it is in my mind."

Here it is...Tinkerbell, Iradessa, Rosetta, Fawn and Silvermist all flying around a large flower. So cute!!!

Cutie Patootie

Hops 2010

This weekend the boys harvested their hop crop for the season. Bryan has an okay yield however, Hawk had a great yield by far! They picked about three to fours times more then they had last year - very exciting! Now they wait for the them to dry and soon they'll be brewing... on their new equipment they are concocting! Next year Bryan plans to plant more hops and hopes to stock up more for the year. These two are serious hobbyists!

Soccer Fun

This year Holly is signed up for a new soccer program that was recommended by a good friend, who is now her coach. In previous classes Holly has had fun doing a skills based little soccer program, but no real play against another child - this new program is branching off to applying those skills in real play time. She is very excited about it, has a lot to learn and is willing to give it a shot! Should be a fun season!

Hangar Inn & Park Day

Yesterday we joined some friends for breakfast a great little place in town called the Hangar Inn. I have never been, keep meaning too - just never works out or we forget. Anyhow, the Hangar Inn is located next to the Pierce County airport, along the air strip. While you enjoy your meal their are planes and choppers coming and going... it was GREAT! And, even better - the food was pretty good too! After a nice lunch we spent the afternoon at the park with some really good friends. The kids played a lot, we went for a walk and enjoyed some great weather!
