Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend was filled with sweet beautiful sunshine so we enjoyed several hours in the sun. We spent the weekend out visiting Grandpa Hawk and the kids enjoyed the water. They played in the yard with a small pool, a sprinkler and the slip and slide. We also visited the local lake in which the kids enjoyed the water. It was relaxing, summery and fun... a great way to enjoy the weekend!

The Puyallup Fair

Friday we enjoyed a family evening at the Puyallup Fair. We spent the evening checking out various farm animals, watching the local entertainment and of course Holly took in some rides! Believe it or not the fair was really mellow and empty, which made for a great evening for us. No lines for anything at all, easy getting around and really laid back.

Every year Bryan and Hawk enter a home brew, an annual tradition. This year Bryan was not too thrilled as they placed with a third place ribbon in their division -- which I think is great, they placed! However, he is not overjoyed about it. I would have had a photo of that, but the folks coordinating the beer display had left some back... and Bryan's was one of them. So, no photo this year!

I do however, have many more photos to share.....

Zoo Together

Friday we headed out to the zoo. The intent was to meet up with other homeschooling families, however we were unable to find anyone in that group. Come to find out they were all running late. So, that left just me and the kids! We had a nice time!!!

Typically when we go to the zoo we are with a bunch of other families or with a guest - which makes for a different zoo experience. While we always have a really nice time, Friday was different - in a great way! Holly really engaged me with the zoo, she asked a lot of questions and was just perfect to be honest. Such a different experience, a lovely experience.

We really took a slow time doing the zoo, enjoyed the play area, caught a tank feeding, had a nice picnic lunch and even watched the show they put on... which she loved. It was a great day, one we'll have to do again soon!

Hops 2010

This weekend the boys harvested their hop crop for the season. Bryan has an okay yield however, Hawk had a great yield by far! They picked about three to fours times more then they had last year - very exciting! Now they wait for the them to dry and soon they'll be brewing... on their new equipment they are concocting! Next year Bryan plans to plant more hops and hopes to stock up more for the year. These two are serious hobbyists!
