Let The Fun Begin

This weekend Hudson finally got some walking under his belt. I wish I had thought to take the camera out more, but with my lens broke and having to use a different one - it is just not easy taking photos. Boo! Good news.... a new one is in the mail today and will hopefully be here very soon - then life can resume to normal with photos, yay!

Back to Hudson - he is up and moving! He doesn't just move from a couch or hands to walking, but stands up mid room and goes. So cute! I don't know how a little one does it, he had to fall on his bumpkis about hundred times the other night and just kept getting up with smile. A great lesson for us all I suppose!

Anyhow, here are some photos to share....

Fairy Garden

This morning I took Holly to a sweet little class that was offered at the Windmill Nursery in a neighboring town. The class was designed for the children to create a miniature garden for a special toy, in which Holly brought along Tinkerbell.... whom she loves! I have to admit, I was expecting a much smaller project and was pleasantly surprised at the size of garden they created.

They chose their pots and then had to decide if they wanted to create in an indoor or outdoor garden. Holly decided on an indoor garden. The host then took her over to the proper area of plants, explained several to her by name and talked about how they will grow. Which helped Holly decide how she wanted to design her garden. A great learning experience.

Then the host taught them the proper planting techniques and helped as needed... and then the fun part. The decorated their little gardens in whatever they liked: colored rocks, shells, sand, natural materials, etc. It was really fun for Holly, very creative and a learning experience too! The left with directions on proper care. Tinkerbell is enjoying her new home!

Winter Camping

We experienced our first winter camping this past weekend in our new trailer... making winter camping very comfortable! The weather was cold this weekend and warmth was a good thing.

Bryan and I were able to learn about our trailer more. What to bring or what not to bring. How to set it up and then change it around. Still some tweaking that needs to happen and we picked up some good tips from our friends that we might put into place as well. Overall it was a great trip for a first time out!

We spent the weekend up at Alder Lake with some good friends. Some time was spent at the campsite but we also enjoyed a local drive on a forest service road for snow and also headed up to Mount Rainier for the kids to sled. I am bummed because my camera lens is broke... leaving me with very few photos. But, I have a couple from our weekend. We had a great time and are looking forward to several more trips this year!

Trouble

Hudson spends most of his time crawling and cruising around the house, the main part of the house for those who know he has a 'play area' (which gets little use). Every day we bring out a few toys for him to enjoy in the main part of the house and he explores to his little hearts content - keeping this mom very busy. Especially when we are homeschooling... that is a whole new lovely challenge that we are actually doing quiet well with.

While he is exploring we leave his bedroom door open for him to be in his room. There are a few toys for him in there too. Well, last night Hudson was in his room for literally moments and this is what we found...

Trouble!!!

He likes to play in the lowest drawer. Today he expanded that play area to include several drawers... all over the place!

I think I have my hands a lot more full with Hudson then I ever did with Holly!

Nisqually Delta

We went for a morning walk with Uncle Don to the Nisqually Delta a week or so ago. The morning was nice, a break from the rain -- but pretty cold out. We made it out to the new board walk and took a bit of time on the new portion. However, it was pretty windy and cold in which Hudson was not enjoying at all. So, we turned back. Soon we'll have to pick a calm warm morning to try it again as it was beautiful!!!

The walk was rewarding as always. A lot of juvenile bald eagles, hawk, herons, cranes, ducks, geese, sand pipers, bittern and more! We even saw evidence of beaver... so cool!

Hudson's Party (photo heavy)

We celebrated Hudson's First Birthday with a party at the Tacoma Children's Museum. The afternoon started off with some playtime, good food, birthday cake and presents for Hudson. Then we all headed up stairs to the museum for open play - Hudson really enjoyed the small ball pit, crawling through some small bridges & tunnels kids built and exploring - a true favorite any day!

Hudson had a very special birthday celebration with several friends and family, a great way to welcome his second year ahead!

He wants his cake & ice cream back...

At home enjoying several of his birthday treats!
