Happy Birthday Hudson!

Look who is TWO years old!!!

Hudson at Two Years Old!

Hudson is such a sweet little guy - full of silliness and laughter. He is thoughtful, kind and easy going. His eyes are beautiful and his smile is heart melting. He is very smart, loves books, enjoys puzzles and is always learning. He has a big sense of adventure. He is the best snuggler in this house. He enjoys all things Dinosaur Train and has recently discovered Elmo. He adores art and would do it all day if I let him. He likes to be physically active. He is gentle. He like trains, planes and helicopters. Loves animals. He is funny and already tells jokes. He listens pretty well. He is a great little brother. He is amazing and loving. Happy Birthday Hudson!

Hudson enjoyed a great birthday this week! He started his day off with some presents, Dinosaur Train, a cash register, a wooden pizza set, a couple books and a new metal dino water bottle like Holly's. He really enjoyed his birthday goodies!

After a morning of play we went out for pizza, enjoyed the afternoon at the Tacoma Children's Museum, had ice cream for dinner and a bit of pizza for dessert. He loved it all!

Happy Birthday Hudson!!!

Happy 6th Birthday Holly!

This little girl...

Turned 6 years old yesterday!!!

She is an amazing, beautiful, loving and funny little girl who fills our hearts with complete joy! She enjoys life to it's fullest, explores her little heart out, investigates everything, is not afraid to get her hands dirty, dances around the house in a tutu, is artistic and bright, outgoing with just about anything, friendly to all, cracks up at her own jokes, is mastering joke telling, spends hours each week reading Calvin & Hobbes, snuggles really well, is learning how to swim, enjoys music, is a wonderful big sister, cuddles her little brother and reads to him, sneaks into mom and dads bed and starts each day with a positive way about her! Happy Birthday Holly!

This was her special gift, selected by Daddy...

Final Bash

This year for Holly's birthday we decided to separate the children's party and the family party - our house is small and a combined party is a full house to put it mildly! So, this year we opted for two different celebrations instead. It made for less crowding and more time to visit at each party.

Last night we enjoyed a beautiful Spring evening over bbq'd food, family and birthday fun. They sun was an amazing touch to a perfect night! After some good food Holly opened her birthday presents, enjoyed some cake and then spent the evening playing with her cousin, auntie and family friend... a whole night of hide and seek (we have the perfect yard for it). She had a blast and a perfect celebration to ring in her 5th year!

Celebration at the Zoo

On Holly's actual birthday we have a tradition of spending the day together as a family, typically we head to the zoo or a children's museum. This year we chose the Point Defiance Zoo. The weather was a bit sketchy - clouds and rain. We took our chances though and headed across town and lucked out with wonderful weather! It did not rain one time the whole day we were at the zoo and in fact the sun peaked through in time for an out door picnic at the zoo.
We had a great time checking out the far side of the zoo that we normally do not hit - the birds, polar bears, walruses, sea otters and seals. They were all very active for us and we lucked out for a polar bear talk and feeding as well as a feeding and talk at the sea otter exhibit and the sea lions. As well, we caught the animal presentation they are practicing for the upcoming summer season and saw baby meerkats! It was such a wonderful day!

Dinosaur Birthday Party

This weekend we had a birthday party for Holly's 5th Birthday, a dinosaur themed birthday party! We invited all of her friends over for some dino fun, play and food. Holly had a blast and really enjoyed herself for sure. I'd say the party was a success!
The dinosaur play table loaded with dinos!
Mini dinosaur cakes the kids decorated.
Dinosaur Egg Hunt... not your average egg hunt though!
The kids all starting to work on their eggs like a paleontologist would. Cracking, splitting, scraping, breaking.... dusting off the find!

Holly about to open presents.

All the kids about to decorate their dinosaur cakes!

Dinosaur Eggs

For Holly's birthday party we are doing a dinosaur egg hunt. The eggs are actually made from a salt dough with sand around small plastic dinosaurs, you form them and bake them until hardened. The kids will then hunt for them in our yard and break them open to find out what dinosaurs they found... kind of like a paleontologist. She is so excited to do this!
